This chocolate bar was made from cocoa beans we aged in freshly emptied Rock Creek Rye whiskey barrels from DC’s One Eight Distilling. Over the months, these cocoa beans absorbed the flavors and aromas of the barrel’s rye whiskey-soaked charred oak walls. Initially the most prevalent whiskey in the Northeast, Rye was distilled primarily in Maryland and Pennsylvania until Prohibition, after which the spirit became nearly extinct until its recent resurgence. In contrast to its more popular cousin, Bourbon, you might taste spicy, fruity notes take shape in this limited release bar.
