Beyond Good is a bean to bar chocolate maker from Madagascar. In Madagascar there is a strong presence of criollo cocoa, the most prized variety of cocoa on earth. Beyond Good was founded by Tim McCollum to produce quality chocolate using the best Malagasy cocoa. Beyond Good works directly with a hundred premium cocoa growers, personally taking care of fermentation and drying; and guaranteeing them fair compensation that can guarantee their families a dignified existence. Beyond Good has built a factory in Madagascar to produce chocolate as close as possible to the cocoa plantations, this is because Beyond Good was born to make chocolate directly where the cocoa is grown. Quality chocolate can make every corner of the world healthier and more beautiful. With the help of Conservation International and the Bristol Zoo, Beyond Good investigated the link between cocoa trees and lemur conservation. The researchers spent 6 months immersed in cocoa plantations, sleeping in the forests, monitoring with night cameras and producing acoustic recordings. The results were astonishing. Five endangered species of lemurs, 19 bird species, the Madagascar flying fox and more have been found on the cocoa plantations. Beyond Good after becoming interested in cocoa from Madagascar and chocolate production in Africa, he expanded his mission and started using cocoa from Uganda as well. The goal is to start building a chocolate factory by 2022 also in Uganda.
