Honduras ist ein Staat in Mittelamerika und grenzt im Südosten an Nicaragua, im Nordwesten an Guatemala und im Südwesten an El Salvador. Im Norden des Staates liegt die Genossenschaft APACH (Asociación de Productores Agroforestales de la Cuenca del Rio Choloma), die ein Zusammenschluss von 110 Kleinproduzenten bildet. Die Plantagen der Produzenten liegen in den Bergen El Merendon, in der Gemeinde Choloma. Um bessere Preise für den qualitativ hochwertigen Kakao zu erzielen, gründeten die Kleinbauern 1995 die Kooperative um Ihr Einkommen durch andere Nutzpflanzen wie Holz und tropische Früchte zu diversifizieren. Im Geschmacksprofil finden sich fruchtige Aromen von Bananen und Rosinen wieder.
